Life in the Trenches

To commemorate armistice day, we learnt all about World War One and created our own war-inspired artwork for a class display. At lunchtime, Miss Jones created trenches and No Man's Land in our classroom so that we could experience life in the trenches! We entered the classroom from two sides: the German's and the British. Then, we sat and listened to sound effects of the war and learnt all about what the daily life for a soldier would have been like. Finally, we wrote diary entries sat in our trenches as if we were real soldiers.

We also had a visit from a veteran from World War Two who also happened to be the Great Granddad of a member of our year group! He told us some incredible stories about his experience in the war and was so interesting to listen to. We asked him questions and he showed us his medals.
