Safeguarding and Prevent
Safeguarding & Prevent at St Mark’s Primary School
At St Mark’s, safeguarding is our top priority. We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all children and expect the same from everyone in our school community.
We follow strict safeguarding policies and statutory guidance. All staff have completed safeguarding and Prevent training, and we have a dedicated team for safeguarding concerns:
- Designated Safeguarding & Prevent Lead: Mrs Randall
- Deputy Safeguarding Leads: Miss R. Hambleton & Ms L. Coldwell
- Safeguarding & Prevent Governor: Mrs R. Rooke

Prevent Duty
Since 2015, schools have a legal duty to prevent radicalisation and promote British Values.
We do this by:
- Training staff and governors
- Risk-assessing visitors and speakers
- Teaching PSHE, SMSC, and RE (including other faiths)
- Promoting Christian and British Values
- Providing a safe space for discussions
- Organizing relevant visits and guest speakers
Working with Parents & Agencies
We aim to work with parents regarding any concerns but may consult with the Police or Children’s Social Care if necessary.
Visitor Safeguarding Procedures
All visitors must:
- Report to the main office and sign in
- Wear a visitor badge at all times
- Use designated visitor toilets
- Keep mobile phones off on school premises
- Sign out and return their badge upon leaving
The school remains secure during the day, and all staff undergo national safeguarding checks before employment. At least one member of every interview panel is safer recruitment trained.
If you have safeguarding concerns, contact Mrs Randall, Headteacher & Designated Safeguarding Lead.
