Forest School
Forest School Programme
Every child at St Mark’s will do the Forest School Programme at some point. Miss French, will lead this programme and will be supported by other trained school members.
Our forest sessions take place in a variety of local wooded areas with a range of activities tailored to suit pupil’s needs. This includes a mixture of craft, team bonding exercises, outdoor cooking, and general woodland tasks. The focus of these activities is to enhance social skills and encourage teambuilding. We encourage the children to be as independent as possible and problem solve throughout the tasks.
Forest School is highly popular with all the children that attend. It has proven to be most successful when we take smaller groups. It can build new friendships, develop leadership skills and often encourages children to make return trips to the woods with family members. We like to visit different local areas to widen children’s experience and knowledge of activities. We are quite resilient and like to go in all weathers by encouraging pupils to come dressed appropriately.
