Foundation Stage Information for Parents
Intent Statement for EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage)
At our EYFS, we intend to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where children are empowered to thrive through a carefully balanced approach to learning. Our commitment is to foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence through an educational framework (BWMAT progression document) that prioritises the holistic development of each child. We believe in the powerful synergy of continuous provision and enhanced learning opportunities.
Our Approach:
- 80% Continuous Provision: We prioritise continuous provision as the foundation of our teaching, ensuring that children have the freedom to explore, engage, and learn through play and self-initiated activities. This supports their natural curiosity and allows for seamless development of essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, and resilience.
- 20% Enhanced Learning: We complement continuous provision with structured, teacher-led enhanced learning activities. These carefully planned sessions provide targeted opportunities to deepen understanding, introduce new concepts, and extend children’s learning, ensuring that each child reaches their potential in all areas of development.
Our intent is to cultivate a learning environment that seamlessly integrates these two powerful modes of learning. By doing so, we inspire children to become independent learners who are enthusiastic about exploring their world and prepared for future educational success. Our EYFS nurtures each child's individual strengths, laying the groundwork for lifelong learning and a love for discovery.
Resources for Parents
EYFS Curriculum Meeting
Each year we offer an EYFS curriculum meeting for parents, carers and grandparents, with a focus on supporting phonics and early reading, and maths. This workshop session is always really well attended - and this year was no exception! Please see below some parent and carer feedback we received after the sessions:
EYFS Curriculum Meeting - October 2024
Phonics Workshop - April 2024
Please find below a copy of the PowerPoint resource used by Miss Ball, our Phonics and Early Reading Lead, at our recent EYFS phonics workshop. If you have any questions or need any further support with phonics and supporting your child at home with reading, please speak to a member of the EYFS team or Miss Ball who will be happy to help.

A Virtual Tour of our EYFS Base:
We are very lucky to have such a large outdoor area which includes a field, playground and climbing equipment. Inside the base, we are very fortunate to have access to two large classroom spaces where the children enjoy a wide range of learning activities, either teacher or support staff led, as well as self-initiated independent learning opportunities.
