Toilet Twinning
On November 19th 2019, children in Years 1-6 enjoyed a fun worship all about National Toilet Day!
In the worship, the children were told that over 2.6 billion people do not have access to clean, safe toilet facilities. They then explored how they would feel if they did not have accessible, safe, clean toilet facilities at school and at home, or if someone had not looked after those facilities and they were no longer working. Responses from the children included:
‘uncomfortable’ ‘embarrassed’ ‘frustrated’ ‘cross’
Year 5 children then read some toilet facts to the whole school, explaining why it is so important that people have access to sanitisation facilities. They said that the toilet twinning programme was aiming for all communities to have access to a toilet by 2030!
We then watched a short video from the toilet twinning website.
The staff then shared with the children that they would be fundraising to twin the staff room toilets with toilets in a developing country! The children and staff were very excited about this…watch this space for our toilet twinning news!
